Position located in Brookings, South Dakota. Candidates must be enrolled and registered as a fulltime student. Ideal candidate should be available to work approximately 15-20 hrs/week during the academic year and at least 20hrs/week during the summer.
Daktronics is recognized worldwide as a leader in the large display industry. The company designs, manufactures, sells, and services a variety of display products in three primary markets: sports, commercial, and transportation. Sports market customers include schools, colleges and universities, professional teams and facilities, sports federations, and international events and organizing committees. Commercial customers include financial institutions, hotels and motels, gaming, auto dealers, convenience stores, shopping centers and other retail establishments. Transportation applications include display systems for state and city departments of transportation, mass transit systems, airlines and airports, bus terminals and other transportation agencies. The student assistant positions are involved with projects and the selling, approval, manufacturing, installation and final payment stages.
1. Assist Project Managers with different aspects of custom jobs involving video products, highway traffic displays and business applications.
1.1 Support sales personnel by assisting with project proposals, quotes and technical presentation.
1.2 Generate and monitor project budgets and schedules.
1.3 Ensure project flow smoothly through the plant by working closely with the manufacturing departments.
1.4 Create change orders and send to the contractor/owner.
1.5 Communicate with customers, contractors and owners via phone, fax, mail and email.
1.6 Assistance with general project correspondence and maintain organized project files.
1.7 Collect, package and ship parts to job sites as needed.
1.8 Work with accounting personnel to get projects invoiced and money collected.
2. Search Onvia bid notification website and make daily report for current and future projects that are out to bid, project documents, and general project information.
3. Search government websites on a regular basis.
3.1 Locate bid information, bid letting dates, current and future project, project plans and specifications, etc.
4. Management of smaller contracts and sales demos projects.
5. Perform installations supervision and other on-site work.
6. Review project costs, and bill of material after completion of project.
7. Financially close completed projects.
8. Customer service functions.
9. Work with little supervision. Complete quality work in a timely manner.
10. Communicate effectively. Work as an effective team member.
11. Perform other projects and duties as needed to assist other project managers.
12. Become knowledgeable of and follow company procedures
13. Regularly and reliably work scheduled hours.
14. Willing and able to travel via air and ground transportation.
Requirements
1. Full time student pursuing a degree in the engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, civil, EET), Computer Science, Business Economics or Construction Management. Only strong performers in undergraduate coursework will be considered.
2. Prefer sophomore or junior class status (technical communication courses helpful).
3. Knowledgeable in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project Software.
4. Must be able to travel by land and/or air during summer and school breaks. Must have a good driving record and valid driver''s license. Motor vehicle records will be checked.
5. Daktronics manufacturing experience and product knowledge preferred but not required.
6. Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
7. Must maintain acceptable GPA.
8. Background check may be conducted.
