Daktronics, Inc designs, manufactures and sells a wide range of display systems to customers in a variety of markets throughout the world. We focus our sales and marketing efforts on geographical regions, markets and products. The primary categories of markets include Live Events, Commercial, Transportation, Schools and Theatres and International. Daktronics manufacturing follows a focus factory concept paralleling these five markets.
Transportation Manufacturing consists of approximately 60 employees.
1. Supervise production in Transportation Manufacturing. Execute plan as developed by the plant manager, to include: staffing, equipment, and facility needs based on projected workload requirements; communicate goals to staff.
2. Ensure safety during shift. May need to take injured employees for treatment and/or appointments. Assist in developing safe operating procedures for machines/equipment.
3. Hire or assist in hiring; coordinate training plan for new employees as well as existing employees; gain a thorough knowledge and be able to train employees on:
3.1. Work order flow, routing, and delivery
3.2. Quality reporting
3.3. Work procedures and test procedures
3.4. Equipment
3.5. Daktronics policies and procedures
4. Responsible for ongoing evaluation of employee performance, motivation and discipline of employees and conducting formal performance evaluations timely and objectively. Identify and groom future leaders in manufacturing.
5. Foster teamwork through effective communication, to staff and other departments, of the relationship between quality workmanship, customer service, and customer satisfaction.
6. Provide leadership in the continuous improvement process; work with the Transportation Manufacturing leadership team, Process Engineering team, Lean Manufacturing team and Manufacturing Engineering to improve procedures and processes and to reduce scrap and rework.
7. Attend Pre-build meetings as necessary to insure proper product flow into/through department. Must be able to accurately analyze design drawings as well as Bills of Material for proper manufacturability.
8. Participate in budgeting and planning of the Transportation Manufacturing plant.
9. Maintain good attendance and work hours necessary to complete assigned tasks. Arrive to work before the start of the shift to create/receive the day shift production briefing. Provide leadership during overtime shifts.
10. Represent the company and department positively and effectively in all situations.
11. Become a main representative/point of contact for department in the absence of the plant manager.
12. Perform other duties as needed to meet customer expectations.
Requirements
1. Bachelor''s degree in electronic/manufacturing engineering technology or comparable degree.
1.1. Comparable combination of formal training and experience may be considered.
2. Training and supervisory experience preferred. Demonstrated leadership ability required.
3. Ability to successfully participate as a member of a team.
4. Good technical writing and verbal communication skills required. Fluent English both verbal and written.
5. Computer skills: Glovia, Word, Excel and Outlook.
6. Demonstrated planning and organization skills.
7. Ability to work with little supervision.
8. Color vision and good visual acuity preferred.
9. Ability to lift and carry heavy (up to 45 pounds) and/or awkward items, work hands-on, work with some odors and distinguish and identify wire colors.
10. Valid driver's license and good driving record. Motor vehicle records will be checked.
11. Background check will be conducted.
12. Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgment.
