Position located in Brookings, South Dakota. Candidates must be enrolled and registered as a fulltime student. Ideal candidate should be available to work approximately 15-20 hours per week during the academic year and at least 20 hours per week during the summer.
Daktronics is recognized worldwide as a leader in the large display industry. The company designs, manufactures, sells, and services a variety of display products in three primary markets: sports, commercial, and transportation. Sports market customers include schools, colleges and universities, professional teams and facilities, sports federations, and international events and organizing committees. Commercial customers include financial institutions, hotels and motels, gaming, auto dealers, convenience stores, shopping centers and other retail establishments. Transportation applications include display systems for state and city departments of transportation, mass transit systems, airlines and airports, bus terminals and other transportation agencies. Daktronics Mechanical Design assistants are responsible for assisting in the design and documentation of computer programmable display systems and the subassemblies associated with these products.
1. Produce accurate design drawings and documentation for projects on AutoCAD and/or Pro-E. Assist Engineers with design, drafting, bill of materials, routing documentation.
2. Assist in documenting and checking components in AutoCAD and./or Pro-E.
3. Develop concepts and ideas for designs on AutoCAD and/or Pro-E.
4. Build and test prototypes.
5. Prepare detailed blueprints of subassemblies and parts.
6. Write operation sequences and bill of materials (BOM).
7. Help coordinate the manufacture of systems on project basis.
8. Assist with installations as required.
9. Work with little supervision, organize workload efficiently, communicate effectively with internal and external customers, and make decisions concerning designs when required.
10. Perform other duties as required to support the mechanical engineers.
11. Ability to regularly and reliably work scheduled hours.
Requirements
1. Educational Requirements: The ideal candidate must be a fulltime student pursuing a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related degree and in their sophomore, junior or senior year of school. Only strong performers in undergraduate coursework will be considered. Must maintain an acceptable GPA.
2. Class graduate or work experience with AutoCAD and/or Pro-E required.
3. Knowledge of general drafting practices required.
4. Good communication skills.
5. Computer skills and knowledge essential.
6. Knowledge of Daktronics products preferred. Daktronics manufacturing experience a plus.
7. Ability to travel by both air and ground transportation. Good Driving Record. Motor Vehicle record will be checked.
8. Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
9. Background check may be conducted.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
