Daktronics, Inc designs, manufactures and sells a wide range of display systems to customers in a variety of markets throughout the world. We focus our sales and marketing efforts on geographical regions, markets and products. The primary categories of markets include Live Events, Commercial, Transportation, Schools and Theatres and International. Daktronics manufacturing follows a focus factory concept paralleling these five markets.
Position located in Brookings, South Dakota. Candidates must be enrolled and registered as a fulltime student. Ideal candidate should be available to work approximately 15-20 hours per week during the academic year and at least 20 hours per week during the summer.
1. Recommend process improvements to streamline product flow and be responsible for implementation of process improvements/lean manufacturing initiatives.
2. Coordinate with Engineering regarding product designs that improve manufacturability.
3. Oversee implementation of incremental product and process improvements utilizing the PDCA cycle.
4. Research process capabilities looking for continuous improvement opportunities.
5. Assist with construction of prototype printed circuit board designs to gather feedback and determine effectiveness.
6. Assist with quality improvement initiatives that meet customer needs while striving for perfection
7. Assist with Lean Manufacturing initiatives to reduce or eliminate waste.
8. Assist in the administration of the safety program, help implement improvements, enforce policies, ensure compliance with OSHA and eliminate hazards.
9. Work effectively as a team member, work with little supervision, help when and where needed and communicate effectively with customers and team members. Consistently complete quality work in a timely manner.
10. May include supervision of employees such as Process Engineers, Student Process techs, etc.
11. Perform other duties as assigned and needed to meet customer and/or department expectations.
Requirements
1. The ideal candidate must be a fulltime student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electronics Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Operations management or related field and in their sophomore, junior or senior year of school. Only strong performers in undergraduate coursework will be considered.
2. Daktronics experience preferred.
3. Have basic chemistry knowledge or willingness to learn.
4. Ability to work in a chemically intensive and a light sensitive environment.
5. Computer software experience to include AutoCAD, with Creo preferred but not required.
6. Good written and verbal communication skills are essential. Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
7. Ability to interact with a variety of manufacturing and engineering employees in a positive, professional manner.
8. Knowledge of or capable of learning the production of printed circuit boards and troubleshooting techniques.
9. Ability to work on own and be a self-starter.
10. Ability to travel via ground and air. Valid driver's license and good driving record. Motor vehicle records will be verified.
11. Physical Requirements include the ability to:
11.1. lift and carry up to 45 pounds;
11.2. distinguish and identify wire colors;
11.3. ability to work with odors (solder/coating).
11.4. ability to work in a chemically intensive and a light sensitive environment. Will be trained on safe operations and safety procedures.
12. Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgment.
13. Background check will be conducted.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
